Let’s talk tipping

To tip or not to tip?

One of the most controversial and polarizing topics these days (aside from the obvious, but we don’t have to go there) is tipping culture. To tip or not to tip? It’s an awkward situation when you’re presented with a tip screen for what feels like everything these days. You feel pressured to tip because the person is staring at you. You feel judged if you don’t tip or don’t tip “enough”. You don’t want to be a jerk but did what you ordered require an actual service?

As someone who has relied on tips to make a living, I find it very conflicting not to tip regardless of what I bought or ordered. But on the other hand I do understand how it’s being overdone. Does it allow the employer to pay their employees? Probably. Is that the employees fault? Absolutely not.

With all that said, we made the decision a few months ago to do away with the tipping structure here at Hygge. All pricing reflects exactly what you’re paying for. We’re very fortunate to be able to make this decision for ourselves and charge what we feel is fair to both our clients and ourselves. No more bathing. No more guilt. What you see is exactly what you pay.

Do you prefer to tip or not to tip when you visit the salon? We want to hear your thoughts!
